Masterworks Outreach sparks musical connections between people of all ages and abilities.

Masterworks Chorale’s Outreach programs create valuable and lasting partnerships. Using fun and innovative approaches, our workshops foster self-esteem, personal growth and cultural engagement within our community.

Masterworks Outreach serves populations within San Mateo County, bringing musical education and appreciation to groups who may not otherwise have access to choral music. Outreach builds connections with diverse groups including at-risk youth, low-income and homeless families, and the elderly.

These programs are made possible through the support of our generous donors and sponsors.

SING OUT

Initially created to serve the deaf and hard of hearing community, the Sing Out program brings music enrichment to under-served elementary aged students in San Mateo County.

Generally running from 6 to 12 weeks, these weekly sessions are conducted on site and incorporate fun musical games, singer demos, vocal exercises and visual art to introduce children to musical concepts, and the fundamentals of group singing.

Students work toward special performances for parents, staff and peers, including the opportunity to participate in Masterworks concerts!

Classes are led by Outreach staff and dedicated singer volunteers, and run between 45 and 60 minutes.

SONG PARTNERS

Song Partners is a series of music workshops designed to engage older adults coping with memory loss. Studies indicate musical engagement can have a positive cognitive effect, particularly the act of singing in a group.

Live performances, videos, gentle physical movements and conversation, invite participants to explore their past and present relationship to music, and to connect with their environment.

Ensembles of Masterworks singers regularly perform selections from our current concert set for the facilities, and free concert tickets are regularly made available to our partner organizations.

Our 6 to 8-week long, on-site Song Partners programs are gently led by dedicated singer volunteers.

PAINT THE MUSIC

Masterworks collaborates with local artists to create wonderful group art. Project concepts incorporate themes from our classes and/or concerts, and are frequently displayed in the lobby of Masterworks events.

If you would like to collaborate on a program with Masterworks Outreach, please contact Erin Renfroe, Masterworks Executive Director.

Community Partners

We value our extraordinary outreach partner organizations who make a real impact on our Peninsula community, including Belle Haven Youth Center, First Step for Families, George Hall Annex, Rosener House Senior Care and Samaritan House
